Emily Denham
BIO
Emily Denham grew up in Chalybeate, KY but has since found many other homes in Mexico, San Diego, and Oakland. Her passion for dance started at a local studio in Bowling Green, Kentucky where she performed jazz, ballet, pointe, and tap for 11 years. Emily continued her education at Berea College receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Dance and Women & Gender Studies. At Berea she learned many many dance styles, but feels most at home in modern, contemporary, and middle-eastern dance technique styles. Shortly after her undergraduate career, she attended graduate school at St Mary's College of California where she received an MFA. It was there that she found a love for somatics and began an exploration of using dance as a method to pattern/re-pattern one's body to be the place one is most "at home".
