“From a very early age my passion for gymnastics and dance was so strong. I wanted to be both an Olympic gymnast and a big time dancer/choreographer in a big city, but being from where I am, the small town of Horse Cave, KY, and a single mother household, I quickly realized those dreams felt a little too close to unobtainable. My mom worked so hard to give me everything that she could, including many words of encouragement. But time, funding, and resources for such dreams were out of reach. Luckily, I was soon introduced to cheerleading, which had a little bit of both things that I was so passionate about. So before I knew it, I developed a deep love for cheer. From little league all the way through high school, I gave it my all. So much so, that my Hart County High School assistant coach invested her time and money into me so that I could travel to Louisville to take private gymnastics and stunt lessons at GymTyme with, at the time, one of the coaches of the prestigious University of Louisville's cheerleading program, that currently holds 50 National Cheerleading Association Championship titles between the three amazing teams. During the duration of high school, I was nominated, tried out for, and made the All American Cheerleading Team at the National Cheerleading Association training camp at the University of Louisville, all four years that my team attended, with two of those years being chosen as the Top All American Cheerleader, where several other teams competed. There, I also received the leadership award my senior year, Top Gun Jumps, and was offered a job as an instructor with NCA.
Ultimately, I couldn't imagine myself leaving my mom behind and traveling the US for the NCA instructor job or going to college in a big city, so I stayed home. I attended college at the Glasgow campus of Western Kentucky University. Soon after, so many opportunities presented themselves.
Now, a new journey begins! I finally get to be around one of the most amazing art forms that I didn't get to pursue as a child; DANCE. I am beyond excited to become the gymnastics instructor for Soma Center for Dance, that thrives on and instills three core values in their dancers and instructors that have always been so important to me; Vulnerability, Authenticity and Creativity. P.S. Just because it looks like the odds are against you, doesn't mean the opportunity to share your passion won't arise! Work hard from an authentic place of love, and the rewards of positive impact and growth will forever fuel your heart and soul! Much love!”
