DOLLY!
DOLLY!
Presented by GDT Company
Join us for our spring show: DOLLY! A dance tribute to the life & times of Dolly Parton.
This show will be featuring original choreography by Glasgow Dance Theatre faculty and guest artists danced by Glasgow Dance Theatre company members.
This show has arrived at a moment in history where the message of vulnerability and persistence in the face of hardship is needed. Through the larger than life persona and message of Dolly Parton, we hope to lead our community and students into a more unified and inclusive world— where differences are celebrated and love trumps all else.
In-person & Online Tickets Available!
Rite of Spring
Rite of Spring
Performed by GDT CORE
This year, we celebrate the Spring Equinox with a famous ballet depiction of an ancient, mystical rite.
The Rite of Spring was the ballet that infamously caused a riot! This ballet, composed by Igor Stravinsky and choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky in the year 1913, was first performed by Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in Paris.
Join Glasgow Dance Theatre as we re-tell this story of a Russian folk ritual and coming-of-age tale through movement. Combining eerie and magical qualities through movement and music, this show will transport audiences to another time and place.
This show is unique in that the principal role is filled by both of our inaugural CORE company members: Dakota Lile and Elise Wilson. Come both nights to find out who will dance the role of “the Chosen One!”
Garden Party Day Camp
Join us for a community celebration of our upcoming show The Rite of Spring with a Garden Party-themed day camp for ages 5-10. Any/no dance experience welcome!
We will host a tea party with snacks, as well as fun activities for kids who are interested in dance or who have never danced! Kids will meet and dance with SOMA dancers, get to know about dance, and have fun doing arts & crafts with community members!
Masks are required and this event will follow the most current COVID-19 guidelines. Should any new updates require in-person events to stop before this event, we will notify participants by email.
Feel free to reach out with any questions at home@somaky.org
