Rite of Spring
Performed by GDT CORE
This year, we celebrate the Spring Equinox with a famous ballet depiction of an ancient, mystical rite.
The Rite of Spring was the ballet that infamously caused a riot! This ballet, composed by Igor Stravinsky and choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky in the year 1913, was first performed by Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in Paris.
Join Glasgow Dance Theatre as we re-tell this story of a Russian folk ritual and coming-of-age tale through movement. Combining eerie and magical qualities through movement and music, this show will transport audiences to another time and place.
This show is unique in that the principal role is filled by both of our inaugural CORE company members: Dakota Lile and Elise Wilson. Come both nights to find out who will dance the role of “the Chosen One!”
